Background

There are three electrical steam boilers in a government facility. Boiler feed water is treated by water softener and chemicals including pH booster, anti-corrosion agent and oxygen scavenger.

There are four heating filaments in each boiler. The mineral scale coated on it (as shown in picture 1) lead to the burnt out of the filament as it is energized all the time. The huge heat energy cannot be removed by water because of the presence of mineral scale.

Moreover it is time consuming to replace the heating filament as the entrance to and exit from the facility is strictly monitored, controlled and checked.

After knowing the descaling performance of HydroFLOW from hospitals, it was decided to install HydroFLOW to mitigate the situation.

Result

After three months of operation without pre-cleaning of the filament, it was found that the scale deposit on filament was dissolved as shown in picture 2.

Since then, no filament is burnt out due to the formation of mineral scale and maintenance is now much easier.
